In 2019 I produced, wrote, and performed my own solo show. I had never done anything like that before but my speaking coach had challenged me. She wanted me to boost my career and level up my ability to serve my clients.
I took her up on the challenge. I had to learn a whole new system. I knew how to help authors succeed but I didn’t know the theater world. I didn’t know how to produce a one woman show or get butts in seats. I was intimidated.
Opening night came. I was backstage, terrified. I had never done anything like this before! And it was a full house, every ticket sold. I stepped out onto the stage and it all came together. The show ended and people came up to me to thank me for telling my story. We did a total of 10 shows that run.
And my clients have benefited too. I have a deeper understanding of what it is like for my clients to take on the unknown world of writing and publishing a book. I am a better coach, editor, storyteller, business owner, and community leader.
